“The metallic confetti brings a sense of party, joy and celebration to the atmosphere of ‘HEART.’ Serendipitously, it also resembles glass shattering. The flying foil feels like a beautiful symbolic representation of a closed heart being opened, the protective walls broken through, as it’s filled with the power of love and joy.

“One of the pretty things I noticed about the paper confetti is that it flutters, floating more gently than the silver foil, almost like – butterflies! Without intentionally planning it, the butterfly-like marks on the walls took bodily form. Filling HEART with gentle colourful movement. I’ve had a special connection to butterflies for years – they’ve featured in my other artwork numerous times. To me they represent the fulfillment of a promise, freedom, lightness, authenticity. So it was emotional to experience the fluttering paper butterflies in HEART. Creating a new atmosphere, one of happiness, authenticity and rebirth, after so long in chrysalis form.
