The Burning of lies

The Burning of lies 〰️

The Burning of Lies is an immersive installation that evolved out of the mural project, The End of Shame. Painted books mirroring the aesthetic world of the studio are styled around a fireplace to represent lies. Burning these books, or lies, creates the heat needed to melt the frozen atmosphere of shame. Truth, ultimately, becomes the means of cancelling the tariff of shame and catalyzes freedom from a life stuck within its walls.

Shame can become like the smell of our own homes. The hum of an air conditioner. The feel of a wedding ring. It’s just… there. Which is when it is most dangerous. Because it is then that we are most likely to dismiss, rather than deal with, its dangerous effects.

Greenery enters shame through cracks in its walls, imbuing organic new life into the old story of shame and lies…

“My process is very somatic and I enjoy the physicality of painting on a large scale. I was keen to explore whether intuitive movement while painting could be a form of somatic healing. Further, if creating a new atmosphere in the tangible yields parallel transformative shifts internally, spiritually or in the quantum field.
